We are thrilled to welcome Nick to Cooroy Gymnastics Club as our new MAG Head Coach. Nick may be new to Cooroy, but he has been connected to our team here from early in his own gymnastics career when he was coached by Jamie as a level 6 gymnast "a number of years ago". While Nick was a relative late starter commencing at 12 yrs old, he went on to represent Australia in senior competitive gymnastics before directing his own career into coaching. With his huge passion for our sport and a wealth of experience and knowledge in developing young gymnasts, Nick is focused on the long-term development of our MAG program. He's on a mission to build our boys through the junior levels to senior competitive gymnasts. Join us in giving a warm welcome to Nick, looking forward to an exciting journey of growth and achievements in our MAG program under his guidance.

We've been fortunate to kick off term 4 with some new experienced coaches joining our team. Have you met Lenaya this week? Lenaya is coaching both MAG and WAG classes. Lenaya is all about the magic of gymnastics, and brings a fun yet super-focused and passionate approach to her coaching. She's also been in our gymnast's shoes too! Standing tall at 5'7" when she was just 14 years old, she knows the unique challenges of growing through those crucial adolescent years while training in our sport. Lenaya is all about finding the best ways for each child to learn and succeed. We're excited to have Lenaya on board, and we can't wait for you to get to know her unique coaching style. Our MAG Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6 boys took to the floor this weekend in the Regional Championships at Maroochydore. Level 4 - Will Tillotson, Will Gill Level 5 - Beau Anderson Level 6 - Izzy McKay-Masterton, Archie Sharp Congrats to Izzy McKay-Masterton (L6) achieving first on Vault and 5th on Pommel. In Level 4, Will Tillotson came 6th on Floor - well done! All Level 5 and 6 boys have qualified to compete in the Boarder Challenge coming up in September at Junior State Championships. We'd also like to give a special shout out and huge thanks also to Kath Graham who took on our judging representation for this event - much appreciated!

Our Gymnast In The Wild this week is @neve_whitehill l, our dynamo gymnast who's not only a WAG level 6 at just 9 years old but also a dance superstar from @dance_at_npda ! 💃🤸‍♀️ Neve joined us when she was 5.5, and since then, she's been conquering both gymnastics and dance stages with her talent, skill and love of movement. Recently, she rocked the house at Get the Beat Nationals, bringing home the 8-year-old national champion title! 🏆🎉 Her gymnastics prowess adds extra sparkle to her dance moves, and we can't get enough of her boundless energy and passion for both sports. Our Gymnast in the Wild this week is Khan Ormerod - MAG L5. Since his first days here in KinderGym 10 years ago, we've always known Khan will roll, slide or skate on anything! His years of training are paying off and his 'cross training' at @blibliwakepark really shows the skills and strength he's developed. Nailing those landings is the goal here. Go Khan! Silver in Parallel Bars! Silver in High Bars! 4th All Around - Level 7 Open Well done Mackenzie! Gymnastics is a unique sport. After training 16+ hours per week in the gym, you don't get to 'run on' and compete every weekend of the season. You only get a handful of events each year. At each event you get one shot on each apparatus to put your score on the board. So when there's a medal reward for all this work it's incredible well deserved. Congratulations Mackenzie on your results this week as you represented Queensland. We're incredibly proud of what you've achieved here and we look forward supporting you in all that's ahead for you.

Well done to our Level 4s who competed at State Clubs today and yesterday. Level 4 boys - 'The Will's - were in action on Sunday and Will G took out 6th on Vault while Will T had a strong result on Rings. Our Level 4 girls - Sophie, Leilani, Amelie, Mikaela, Emily and Christina - stepped out into their first State event too, gaining valuable experience here and finished strong with great routines on floor. We're really seeing some strong foundations being developed here for future years! Parents - if you are snapping away during the comp and have any action shots we can post we'd love to share them with the club community here. Our kids train so hard for these moments and we'd love to recognise their comp experience on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

QLD State Club Championships have kicked off in Brisbane over the weekend. Our first results are in with Polly, Arabella, Isabella and Madeleine 11th in the teams Level 7. Individually, Arabella had a strong comp for her first hit out for the year after returning from a back injury, finishing in the top 15 out of 103 competitors. Given we did have some disruption to preparation recently the girls looked good and showed they had potential to finish higher had all gone to plan. Unfortunately, our sport is very unforgiving, and we had some errors. Our boys - Izzy, Beau, Khan and Max - finished 6th, recovering with some admirable resilience after a couple of difficult falls plus an injury and withdrawal for Khan (thankfully just a sprain) after just two apparatus. Izzy came 2nd on Vault (Level 6) - well done, mate! While there were ups and downs here our gymnasts showed great potential for the season ahead as we develop greater consistency.

Lyla (WAG Level 6 gymnast) plays in her school's u12s Touch Footballl team. She has only been playing for a year has just been selected to play in the state cup for Coolum Blue Fins u12 team next month. After an impressive tenure spanning 14 years with Cooroy Gymnastics Club, we bid farewell to Craig Jones, who is leaving the club to pursue new opportunities in coaching. Craig's immense contribution to the club over the years has been substantial, and we take this moment to appreciate his dedication and commitment. Craig's journey with Cooroy began in 2009 when he joined the committee and quickly took on the role of Vice President. In 2010, he ventured into coaching as a Level 1 MAG Coach while simultaneously serving as the club's President. His leadership skills were further demonstrated in the years to come as he served as the club's Treasurer from 2012 to 2022. Craig became a MAG Beginner Judge in 2012 and expanded his judging expertise over the years, reaching the level of MAG Intermediate Bronze Judge in 2018. His commitment to both coaching and judging showcased his comprehensive understanding of the sport and further enriched his contributions to the club. Craig's involvement in all areas of club management exemplifies his dedication to its success. He played an instrumental role in building the club's websites, handling PR and media.. Craig served as Cooroy Sporting Complex representative from 2011 to 2022, laying the foundations of our future expanding facilities. Craig's progressed from coaching WAG Intermediate to MAG Advanced Coach in 2020 and he continued to expand his coaching expertise, becoming a Chaperone for Queensland at the National Championships in 2021, and coaching both WAG and MAG at the Advanced level in 2022. Craig has left an enduring mark on our Club. His unwavering commitment, multifaceted skills, and extensive involvement have played a pivotal role in the club's growth and success. We express our sincere appreciation for his years of service, dedication, and the positive impact he has had on countless gymnasts within our community. As Craig embarks on this new chapter, we extend our best wishes for his continued success and personal fulfillment. Cooroy Gymnastics Club will forever be grateful for the invaluable contributions Craig has made, and his legacy will continue to inspire and shape the future of our club.

Today we bid a fond farewell to our talented coach, Jess M. She will be moving to Brisbane to be closer to her family next term. Jess, your coaching and gymnastics experience have been highly valued by our WAG girls. We appreciate your dedication and the positive impact you’ve had on their development. Thank you for all the time you’ve spent with us and the support you’ve provided to our club. We wish you the best with your move...and we do hope your gymnastics journey brings you back to Cooroy again in the future! You will be missed.
