Womens Artistic Gymnastics
WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics) is for those gymnasts selected to train competitively for the Cooroy Gymnastics Club. Within a competition class there are set hours that the gymnast must attend each week. This is to ensure the correct strength level is obtained to learn the set skills.
Gymnasts will develop skills that will be combined into a routine following the National Program Manual from Gymnastics Australia. Routines will be obtained on all four apparatus including Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor. When the gymnast is ready to compete they will be entered into competitions ranging from local invitationals to National events depending on the level and ability of the child.
Within a competitive class there is an increasing demand on the gymnast to work hard and improve their own individual physical ability and skill. Moving from an educational program and up through the levels of competitive gymnastics, there is generally an increase in training hours, the requirements become harder testing skills such as flexibility, strength, endurance, co-ordination, concentration and determination.
